How often do you just sit still and pay attention to your own breath? In this modern world, we are constantly moving. We work so hard and such long hours that taking a few moments to ourselves can feel selfish. It feels like laziness, like we aren’t accomplishing anything.
Take a few moments here to just stop and notice your breath. I’m inhaling. I’m exhaling. Feel the air as it fills the lungs, and notice how the belly rises and falls. Allow yourself to come into the present moment and just savor it.
Look at your surroundings and maybe notice something different that you haven’t even noticed before. There is a speck of blue paint on the crown molding. The house across the street has pink flowers on the porch.
Allow your mind to focus on the present moment. Life is a long series of present moments- so many of which go unnoticed. We spend a whole lot of time in the past, dwelling on what we could have done better. We worry about our future. What if this happens? What if she says that? What if he does this?
What if we paused and enjoyed the present?
